When the smoke clears after Florida State and North Carolina face off, there will only be one ACC team left at the 2024 College World Series.
Despite hailing from the same conference, this will be the first time all season that the Seminoles (48-16) and Tar Heels (48-15) play each other. In fact, Florida State and North Carolina haven't faced each other in the past two seasons.
Florida State and North Carolina were two of four ACC teams to arrive in Omaha with a chance to win this year's championship. The other two – Virginia and NC State – have since been dispatched.
FSU and UNC both captured their only win against Virginia and suffered their only loss at the hands of top-ranked Tennessee. FSU bounced back from a heartbreaking loss to the Vols to start the tournament by beating the Cavaliers in an elimination game Sunday. UNC opened its tourney with a walk-off win against UVA before losing to Tennessee on Sunday.
