Speaking to Deadline, Fallon recalled being embarrassed during an infamous 2015 interview where Kidman revealed she used to have a crush on him. Years earlier, the two met at the comedian's apartment, which he thought was simply to see if he was the right fit for a movie role. But on "The Tonight Show" years later, she told Fallon that "I liked you," leading a stunned Fallon to ask, "Did I date Nicole Kidman?" Fallon told Deadline that Kidman "totally blindsided him" by dropping this bombshell. "My face just melted," he said. "It was the most embarrassing thing."
But according to Fallon, this has turned into a running joke between himself and Urban. He recalled jokingly approaching Urban at the Met Gala and telling the musician, "I think that we might have dated once." Fallon also recounted a time Urban urged him to approach Kidman at an event and hold her hand so she would think he was her husband.
"I sat next to Nicole and I grabbed her hand and she held it like it was Keith's, probably," he said. "She was kind of rubbing it and she was having this conversation, and then he went across the table to the person she was talking to, and he's like, 'Hi, Nic.' And she's like, 'What? Jimmy, what are you doing?' It was his idea!"
